How To Play Flash Videos On Your iPhone, iPad & iPodTouch

One of the biggest complaints about the iPhone and iPod touch since their inception has been their inability to play Flash videos. Adobe’s Flash player is one of the most widely used tools for delivering audio, video, and animation on the Internet. But the Flash player for iPhone is conspicuously absent. Apple doesn’t and probably won’t even support Adobe’s Flash plugin because Apple charges that Flash uses up computing and battery resources too quickly and that it’s unstable, which leads it to cause computer crashes which Apple doesn’t want as a part of the iPhone experience. That doesn’t quite mean that can not watch Flash video on your iPad, iPod touch and iPhone.

Flash-enabled web browser apps

Thanks to some server-side Flash-to-H.264 transcoding, you can get a lot of the video you want on the device you have.

SkyFire

SkyFireSkyFire ($2.99) is an interesting and now on version 3.0 and its support for Flash has gotten better with every release. Rather than trying to actually play Flash movies on your iPhone, when you try to load one, SkyFire’s servers take over and automatically convert the Flash file to an iPhone-compatible version and then stream it down to you. It’s not a universal app so you’ll have to buy it twice if you want it on both iPhone/iPod touch and the optimized version for iPad, but it also provides other features like social integration and private browsing mode.

iSwifter Games Browser, powered by the Agawi cloud gaming platform, is the world’s first gaming browser for the iPad. The download itself is free but you’ll be prompted to “buy” the app for $2.99 if you want to support them.

Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update hitting Galaxy S3s in Poland alongwith lots of Note II features

Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean
Galaxy S III gets Android 4.1.2 update, lots of Note II features

Samsung has just started to push Android 4.1.2 update for the Galaxy S III.The Galaxy S III is Samsung’s flagship device of the year and is also it’s biggest worldwide selling device. Samsung has given the Galaxy S III top priority in Software Updates that’s why Samsung keeps on updating this device to the latest versions of Android.

The first country on the list is Poland, but even there only owners of unbranded S3s can grab the firmware through Samsung’s Kies software or OTA (over-the-air). Fortunately, many other countries are  potentially next in line, so if you’re residing in Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, India, Ireland, Italy, Romania, Singapore or Spain (to only name a few), be prepared – especially if you’ve got an unlocked S3.

The update brings lots of new features to the Galaxy S III, which were introduced with the Galaxy Note II.

-Android 4.1.2 – JZO54K
-Multi-View (Multi-Windows Multitasking, same as in Note II)
-Page Buddy
-New Gallery App (Same as in Note II)
-Notification Panel (Notification Panel can now be customized)
-Brightness Slider in Notification Panel Can Now Be Disabled
-Smart Rotation (Screen Display adjusts to your angle of sightings)
-Continues Input in Samsung Keyboard (Like Swipe or Android 4.2 Keyboard)
-Paper Artist App
-Group Cast App

The continuous input claimed to come with the 4.1.2 version actually was available within the original 4.1.1 update.

Keep an eye on @SamKiesUpdates to get the latest information on Official Firmwares for your Samsung device.

Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean

AT&T Samsung Galaxy S III Jelly Bean update now on Samsung’s Kies

Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean
Jelly Bean now available for Samsung Galaxy S III on AT&T via Kies

Good news for AT&T subscribers, as a number of readers are now reporting that Samsung’s update to Android 4.1.1 is now available for the Galaxy S III via Kies. Unfortunately, there is no over-the-air option for now, and you will have to use Kies to get the update,Those who do not have Kies can get it via Samsung’s website. Once installed, Galaxy S III users should visit Samsung’s support site, connect the device to the PC.

Users might want to make sure they have plenty of storage space on their phones before downloading, however, because Engadget says early reports show the update will be a fairly hefty 738MB.

As the the update procedure is completed, your GS3 will be running on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and the latest TouchWiz UI on top of it.Sprint was the first U.S. carrier to roll out Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to the Galaxy S III in late October and T-Mobile last month.

Verizon is the last one left, as the procedures required to approve the update for distribution are obviously more tedious at the Big Red. We are hoping they will be over soon, though.
