Galaxy S3, Note 2 Android 4.4 US update news

We have been seeing a number of Samsung handsets being treated to new Android firmware updates over the last few weeks, and now we have some Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4.2 KitKat US update news.

As expected, the updates are going to be incremental and will bring Android 4.4 KitKat features to Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 owners. Here is what Sprint says will be on board:

  • Location Menu: An integrated location menu enables users to easily activate GPS, Wi-Fi and mobile networks, while simultaneously checking the battery usage of apps running location service capabilities.
  • Enhanced Messaging: Hangouts now includes SMS and MMS and a larger assortment of updated Emoji icons.
  • Upgraded Google Mobile Serviceā„¢ (GMS) apps: Users can automatically back up photos and video and can open, view, rename and share Google Docs and files.
  • Updated Lock Screen Features: The lock screen now allows users to quickly access the camera with a new shortcut and view album art while music is playing.

Rumors suggest that Samsung is planning to start these roll outs either in March or April though those dates did not apply specifically to the United States.
