First, T-Mobile didn’t even offer the iPhone. Then, last month, it started offering the phone for $100—and it sold half-a-million phones in three weeks. But now, the carrier has boosted the upfront price on that iPhone 5 to $150, T-Mobile is saying the initial $99.99 down payment was a promotional price that ended Sunday.
The iPhone 5 is a touchscreen-based smartphone developed by Apple Inc.. It is the sixth generation of the iPhone and succeeds the iPhone 4S. The phone is a slimmer, lighter model that introduces a higher-resolution, 4-inch screen to the series with 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio. The phone also includes a custom-designed ARMv7 processor called the Apple A6, an update to Apple’s mobile operating system known as iOS 6, and support for LTE.
According to the short press release, Apple told Monday that it sold more than 2 million iPhone 5s in China in their first three days of availability. Apple’s Chinese division have managed this number by selling the iPhone 5 through various channels, which CEO Tim Cook says is “setting a new record with the best first weekend sales ever in China”.
The phone first released for sale on Sept. 21 in the U.S., Germany, France, Japan and five other countries, with more than 5 million of the phones sold in the first three days. In comparison, they now sold two million of them in China itself.
But considering just how many more people live in China as compared to other countries, is two million all that much? No doubt, it has set a new record for the best first weekend in China, but the previous number would’ve been much smaller so it’s not a hard record to break now, What do you say ?
The iPhone 5 is available in 47 countries and now according to engadget news Apple is expanding the iPhone 5 availability to 55 new countries this month, starting with a trip to South Korea this Friday, the 7th.
